Before the Beach

My parents are in Gulf Shores for the next 2 weeks and the kids and I (Anthony came over for one night) spent a long weekend with them. CeCe is actually staying with them tonight--my first night away from her! Bryce and I had to come home for the dentist in the morning and of course school. We will go back Friday for another long weekend (he is skipping the Mondays of school while they are here). Before we left for the beach we:

Did some homework--not really school homework but I've been getting him to do 4 or 5 worksheets every afternoon and he is getting so much better at holding and using a pencil.

Played outside and collected treasures in the wagon

Bryce had to make and take this I Am Special poster to school last week. He picked out all the pictures and stickers and had to tell his class about all of the pictures.
CeCe showed off her Bulldog spirit wearing this dress from Kiki.

Stay tuned for a post tomorrow or Wednesday about our first weekend at the beach condo. Lots of fun was had by everyone!

Donuts, Fountains, and a Picnic with Spiderman

Oh, and a new trick.....Bryce and Anthony love coming up with new tricks. Here is the latest!

Today was 'Dads for Donuts' at school. Bryce was so proud to have his Daddy take him to school today! The dads get to stay and eat donuts with the kids. I know they both loved it!
While they were doing that CeCe and I met our friends Kelly and Kate at the fountains downtown. The girls had fun running around in the water.

CeCe loved to drink the water (nice and clean water I kept telling myself!)
Last night we went to Sunsets at Plaza de Luna. It was great! They have live music and a character walking around for the kids. We take a picnic supper and eat by the bay. Last night we were thrilled when we got there to see Spiderman walking around. Bryce was on cloud 9! He followed Spiderman around all night!
He was equally excited about posing for pictures, can't you tell? Spiderman gummies!
Silly me thought I might get a nice picture with my two kids....yeah right!!

CeCe's fun day

CeCe had a super fun morning (but shhh, don't tell Bryce all that she got to do!). Our playgroup met for a tour of the Firestation downtown. This was my third time here and every time the firemen are so nice and take their time explaining anything the kids want to know. CeCe of course was a little young to understand but she loved the wide open spaces to run around!

Here is a group shot on the front of one of the trucks.

Deep in thought about somethingPosing in front of one of the tires
After the tour we weren't ready to go home yet so we went to the TT Wentworth museum. They have a play area on the 3rd floor that is set up like a town from the Revolutionary War time. Here CeCe is walking up and down the ramp of a ship. CeCe and Kate climbing the ladder to the fort
Our fun morning wasn't over (but unfortunately the pictures are, I got tired of toting the big camera everywhere!). We hadn't planned on staying out the whole morning so I didn't pack us a lunch like I usually do so we hit Subway for a sandwich. We took it to our favorite waterfront dining area and had a picnic (our 3rd this week!). We had about 45 more minutes to kill so I just let her go. She walked and explored the whole time. She loved chasing the pigeons and looking at the water. We then went to get Bryce from school and came home. She has been sleeping ever since! I have to go wake her up now so she will sleep tonight!

Golf

We had a great weekend! Saturday wasn't perfect (oil on Bryce from the beach and an emergency at the paper mill) but Sunday was!! We took our bikes out to the beach and rode for about 45 minutes. Then we got back in the car and drove to a small festival called A Taste of Pensacola Beach. Local restaurants set up booths with a few items from their menus and you can try smaller versions out for cheaper than at the restaurants. It was hot but we had some great food! They had a small children's section with a putting area. Bryce had a blast 'playing golf'. We had been talking about getting him some golf clubs for a while so after nap we went to the sports store and got him one club (an iron I think?). Then we all went to a new driving range that is close to the house. He had a blast! He ended up using Anthony's clubs more than his but oh well, he enjoyed it and that is what counts.

CeCe was thrilled that there were so many balls everywhere! She kept one in each hand the whole time.

When Daddy comes home

Our afternoons are pretty much the same around here every day. CeCe wakes up around 4 and they have snack and usually watch a show (lately Word World, requested by CeCe as WoWo). Then we go outside. Our front yard is completly shaded by then and we play play play until Daddy comes home around 5:45 or 6:00. They can see him coming up the street and both of them get so excited!

Daddy runs inside to change and then comes out to play while I run in and get supper ready. Today I had a casserole in the oven (lots of 'cream of' soups in there Mel!) so I didn't have to run inside like I usually do. It was so fun watching them play!

Anthony has been wanting to get Bryce some boots for a while now. Cappy and I were in Foley the other day and found these at Stride Rite for $15! Bryce LOVES them. When he first put them on I found him like this!
My Aunt Sandra got this dress for CeCe for her 1st birthday (flamingo theme) but it was so long and since she wasn't walking I couldn't put her in it for her party. Now that she is upright she loves to wear it! I think it is adorable!!

Here she is modeling the dress and her favorite shoes. If I let her pick out her shoes everyday (I don't) she would pick these every single day. She does get to pick out her bracelet every day though. She is so funny.....as soon as she wakes up she points to her jewelry box. I take her over there and she opens it up and picks from her stash of (5) bracelets. She will hand me her choice and then hold her bracelet arm out for me to put it on her.

Look!

Look What
CeCe
Can Do!!!!
She has finally decided to walk instead of crawl!!! She started standing up by herself and walking on her own Sunday afternoon. She has been walking more than crawling ever since!
There is another post after this one about our wonderful weekend!
