Tennis anyone?

Yesterday we had a wonderful morning at the beach! It was a perfect beach day. While we were there Bryce started talking about how much he wanted to play tennis. We have no idea where that came from!! Anthony and I both enjoy playing tennis, but haven't played in years. He woke up from his nap still talking about it so we headed to a sports store and bought him a little tennis racket. We told him if we didn't evacuate because of the hurricane then we would go this morning. We woke up and watched the weather and decided to stay here (pray it was the smart choice!) so he reminded us it was time to go play tennis. We had a great time. Yes, that is Reagan in the background. We went to Bayview park in Pensacola which allows dogs and even has a dog beach.

It is starting to get windy here and pretty dark. We have done all we know to do for the storm so now we just wait. It is a weird feeling.....
I'll update in the next day or two. Wish us luck!!

Watching the weather channel

We are keeping our eyes on Hurricane Gustav as it inches closer. Our plans are way up in the air right now! It all depends on the storm. We are well stocked here with plenty of batteries and water if we do stay. If it looks bad enough Bryce and I will head to my parents house in Memphis. Anthony's situation is much more complicated with work. Something about a connection in New Orleans, power in Pensacola, blah blah blah. I'm just kidding, he is super stressed about it. It is a holiday weekend, month end, and payroll time so his group is scrambling around playing a big game of 'what if' right now. He has requested that Reagan (our dog) stay with him so he won't get lonely! Here is Bryce's reaction to the weather report.......

I wonder if that is nervousness or excitement that he might make an unexpected trip to Cappy and Papaw Ruff's house?

BTW--His second day of preschool went much better!!! The teacher said he was alot more comfortable and more talkative on Thursday. I'm so happy!

First Day of Preschool!

Bryce started preschool today! He has been excited about this since we visited back in March. I've been telling him since then that I would have to say bye-bye to him and that I would come back and pick him up after he ate lunch, but he still cried when I left. I knew he would but it was still hard to leave! I walked back by his classroom about 10 minutes later and saw him sitting at the table. Not crying anymore, but not happy yet. Hopefully when I pick him up his note will say he had a great day. I'll update on that after I pick him up at 1:00. He will go Tues. and Thurs. from 9-1. One of his playgroup buddies, Caden, is in his classroom so maybe that will help his feelings. Here are some pictures from this morning!
ETA: I just picked him up and the teacher said overall he had a good day. Cried off and on all day but could still enjoy the activities. They send a note home everyday telling the parents about the kids' day and it said he didn't eat much. When I asked Bryce why he didn't eat lunch, he said "Maybe go to ChickenLay (chick-fil-a)?" He also told me all about the toys he played with and that he learned a new song about an alligator. He said he had a very good day and would like to go back on Thursday. We shall see what Thursday brings!!!

Oh yeah, we saw his pediatrician yesterday and his collar bone is all healed up! It is amazing how fast kids bounce back from things.

Healing

Bryce's collar bone seems to be healing, just like the Drs. said it would! He is able to use his arm more and more without crying out in pain. He was running earlier and fell which scared us to death, but he said it didn't hurt his arm. And I noticed him closing our bedroom door with his hurt arm earlier so I know it is getting better. He has been such a trooper through all of this!! Amazing! Here are some pictures of his new look. And a couple from my reunion.

Dr. visit

The orthopedic doctor said that Bryce's collar bone will heal in about 2 weeks. We have to keep it in the sling and wrapped with the ace bandage for a week and restrict his activity but after that he will be fine to heal on his own. No swimming which is a big bummer for us! But it could be WAY worse, right? Thanks for checking on him!

Fractured Collar Bone

Bryce fell off an ottoman (no taller than 2 ft) today and fractured his collar bone. He was in a lot of pain earlier, but is going to be fine. They put him in a tiny little sling and then wrapped an ace bandage around his chest and arm. I wish I had a way to upload pictures here because it is pretty cute! We are going to see an orthopedic doctor tomorrow but the Dr. at the clinic today said collar bones heal on their own easily. Bryce and I are at my parents house visiting so Bryce is getting lots of love and attention. Hopefully with the sling and some Motrin he will be able to sleep tonight.

I have lots of good pictures from the last month that I am going to put on here when we get home. I had my 10 year high school reunion last night and had a GREAT time!
