A Happy Halloween

What a great day we had!  Both kids wore their costumes to school today which was such a treat.  CeCe and her class trick or treated at the retirement home next to the school and then had a little Halloween party.  Bryce gave his first book report today and thinks he did a good job!

Tonight we had some friends come over for dinner and then we all walked around and trick-or-treated.  We have such a great family friendly neighborhood with so many houses with lights on for trick or treaters.  There were tons of kids walking around trick or treating too.  Fun atmosphere!

More Halloween Fun

Our carved pumpkin

I was scheduled to take the Friday treat in for Bryce's class yesterday so Cappy, CeCe and I made these cute peanut butter/ritz/pretzel/raisin spiders.  CeCe was the best eye maker ever!

Our house decorated for Halloween

This morning Anthony ran in a 5K race that started at Bryce's school and ran through our neighborhood.  It actually went right by our house and followed one of his favorite running routes.  We went up to the school to cheer everyone on and to be there at the finish line to see Daddy.  I let the kids dress up.  Bryce chose to wear his Halloween costume and CeCe decided to dress silly.

Go Daddy Go!!!

After the race.....he barely broke a sweat!  I bet he won't look this chipper after the half marathon next weekend!

This afternoon we walked down the street to CeCe's friend Sophie's house for a fun Halloween party.  The kids had fun jumping on the trampoline and playing on this rollercoaster.

After the party we hitched a ride on our friends hay trailer and rode all around the neighborhood.  It was so fun!  We are planning on using this to trick or treat on Wednesday so that will be awesome!

Not sure what our plans are for tomorrow.  We had planned to drive to Charleston for the day (Cappy is still here and we want to take her there so bad!) but Hurricane Sandy is messing us up.  It was SUPER windy here today and Charleston got tons of wind and rain today and is supposed to be windy tomorrow so we might have to post pone that trip for another visit.  Boo.

Pumpkins and BOO!

A church near us has a little pumpkin patch so last weekend we stopped and picked out the perfect carving pumpkin.  It is always so fun to walk through all the pumpkins and find just the right one.  Anthony and Bryce found the winner this year.  I'll post a picture of our carved pumpkin later.  It's already turning black and attracting gnats.  YUCK!

Every year CeCe finds a good warty one to pick up and love on!

Someone BOO'd our house the other night.  We think it was our next door neighbors! In the bag was a note that said we had 2 days to pass the BOO along so a few nights ago we filled up 4 bags of Halloween goodies and BOO'd our friends in the neighborhood.  Anthony and Bryce did the running, leaving and knocking while CeCe, Cappy and I waited in the getaway car.  It was so much fun we've decided to BOO the next door neighbors tonight.

CeCe's first field trip

CeCe went on her first field trip today!  The local YMCA has a cute little pumpkin patch set up.

Her class with the scarecrow they made.  They are all wearing pumpkin shirts they made in class last week.

They ate oreos, chips, and hotdogs (most of them ate in that order, CeCe included!).

After lunch she wanted to go back and talk to the scarecrow again.

Face painting (or pace fainting as CeCe kept calling it!)

They all had to show off and check out each others cheeks after getting them painted.

Running and playing with some friends

Last but not least, they went on a hayride.  It was pretty crowded so I stayed back while Cappy rode with her.  We are so glad Cappy is here and was able to go on the field trip with us!!!

Downtown Day

Kiki and Papaw Duke came to visit us in Savannah this weekend!  They got here Friday afternoon and we've been on the go ever since.  Friday night we had a yummy dinner at Spanky's on Tybee then headed home to watch the Cardinals play.  Since they lost that game (boo) we get to watch another game tonight (yay!).  Saturday morning we did a little shopping and Kiki bought Bryce a football Tee and some rubber bases for the backyard.  After a delicious lunch at Vic's on the River we came home and he played sports all afternoon in the backyard.  He is turning into quite the sports nut.

CeCe just loves being outside where the action is.  Saturday night we watched the Bulldogs pull out their 7th victory of the season!!  GO STATE!!

This morning we headed back downtown and took a Trolley tour of downtown.  I did this when my friend Holly and her mom came in town and thought it was a great way to see most of downtown and learn a good bit of history too.  Of course our history buff was super excited!!

And our diva along for the ride enjoyed herself too!  It was a little chilly early on so I grabbed the blanket we keep in the Yukon for picnics and she cuddled up to Papaw Duke for most of the ride!

We stopped at City Market and then walked to Broughton for lunch.

Waiting for a shuttle to take us to the Cathedral

There was a mass going on at the Cathedral the first time we tried to go in so we went up one stop and walked around the Colonial Park Cemetary.  Bryce loves a good cemetary.....lots of dates to look at.

CeCe felt brave and climbed this tree.  She kept reminding Bryce how she was brave....and he wasn't!!

After the cemetary we went back to the Cathedral and it was BEAUTIFUL!  I didn't take pictures in there though, didn't feel right.  Even though we aren't Catholic, Bryce left a dollar and lit a candle.  We talked about it before he lit it and I told him what it was for and asked him who he wanted to light the candle and pray for, he thought and real quickly said "Uncle Charles".  My sweet boy.

Since we had walked so much since lunch, we all decided it was time to check out the famous ice cream parlor downtown, Leopolds.  It was worth the long line.  Delicious ice cream.  CeCe had her first 'ice cream comb' and loved every bite of it.

Great way to spend a beautiful fall day in Savannah, GA!

Lately

I haven't picked up my big camera in weeks so phone pictures will have to do!  Things are rockin along here in Savannah.  Bryce is doing great in 1st grade and CeCe loves preschool.  They both have great teachers.  They are both enjoying their extra activities too.  Ballet is one of CeCe's favorite things to do, her teachers make it so fun.  Bryce has moved up to stroke school class in swimming and is doing GREAT in it.  I'm not sure if he will decide to do a swim team or not, but he would be great at it.  We had a little scare with his hair....he's swam all summer in chlorine pools without a problem, but at the very end of the summer and right when swimming class started at he aquatic center his hair became so brittle.  I actually got a little worried something more was going on, but researched good shampoos for swimmers and found Ultra Swim.  It is the best!  So in the future if you need a good swimming shampoo for your blonde kids, remember Ultra Swim!

A few weeks ago we met some friends at the beach for an evening picnic.  It was cool that day (low 70s) so we didn't expect our kids to want to get their feet wet much less swim.  We should have known better.....Bryce and Michael were swimming in the ocean faster than we could tell them not to!  In their clothes, with no dry clothes to change into.  They had a blast until it was time to get out and eat, then they were freezing!

Last weekend we braved a rain shower to see the Tybee Island Pirate festival parade.  It was great and the kids got tons of beads and candy.

It has finally gotten cool enough for CeCe to wear her leggings.  She's been waiting on this for weeks after seeing a friend wear some at ballet.  She was so proud to wear these on Monday!  Cappy made her super cute bows!

Today was the first dress down day at school (they wear uniforms so not having to on certain days is a big deal!).  They had to wear their favorite team shirt to participate.....guess what Bryce chose?  Yep, the Cardinals shirt!!

CeCe taking her babies on a ride.  Here I think she was teaching Betsy Anthony how to drive the tricycle.
