Beach Day!

Bryce has a day off from school today for a staff work day.  The weather is GORGEOUS so we decided to hit the beach.  CeCe and I went with some friends last week and Bryce has been asking to go ever since.  It was great to be out there with my two beach bums!

The sand is not pretty and white, but it is still tons of fun!

CeCe was much more brave in the waves today than she was last week.

And my fish.....the water was freezing but it didn't keep him from swimming!

There were lots of dolphins out today.  At one point there were at least 10-12 swimming by very close to the shore.  They were putting on quite a show!

Adventure #3

Adventure #3 started after church on Sunday.  We loaded up our bikes and drove about 3 miles out toward Tybee Island.  There is a bike/walking trail that used to be the old railroad track from Savannah to Tybee.  It is 6 miles long but a friend told me where the halfway point is so we parked there and headed back towards town (but this is also the much more remote and secluded way, the other direction pretty much stays right along Hwy 80).  We knew it would be a long ride for Bryce.  6 miles total.  3 out and 3 back.  He did GREAT!!  The surface is gravel and the wind was crazy for the first 2 miles but then it calmed down and riding was easier.  We came to what we assumed was the end of the trail since this bridge was blocked off but luckily a runner came by and told us we needed to keep going to see the end of the trail.  I'm so glad we did!!

This is what we found!  It was so fun looking at all the decorations left out here.

And climbing ropes

And a super fun rope swing that we all tried out!

To celebrate our great ride we tried out the local fro-yo place.  It was delicious!!
This was one of our most fun adventures and is on our list to be repeated!

Adventure #2

Adventure #1 was a drive over to Hilton Head, SC. We've been wanting to do this for a while and this weekend worked out.  Of course we hit the outlet mall (wonderful!!) and then drove around Hilton Head for a while.  It was very pretty.  We think we will go back sometime and take our bikes so we can explore some more.  We found a Jim N Nick's BBQ while we were there and were so excited!!  We've missed Jim N Nicks since leaving AL so this was quite a treat!  No pics of Adventure #1.

Oh, this is Bryce from 50s day at school on Friday.  I found out at 6:00pm the night before that dress down day would be themed.  This is the best I could do.  I thought he looked good though!

Adventure #2 was......CAMPING (at home)!!  Starting out with a little edamame.  What, you don't cook edamame when you camp?! We ate hot dogs the night before thinking we would camp then but it didn't work out so we settled for this Sat. night!

Roasting marshmallows

And eating their first smores!

Then we set up the tent (in the playroom, stupid storms on and off all weekend) and read books with the kids lanterns.

Then it was night night time!  Anthony and I slept in the tent too, it is a nice huge tent that I know we will use many times, hopefully outside next time!  The kids did great and even slept in a little this morning.
Adventure #3 coming soon!

Showing off Savannah

My parents, sister and her boys came in town for Jude's Spring Break and we had fun showing off everything we love about Savannah.

We checked out the railroad museum

Went to Forsyth Park:
And had plenty of races

Loved looking at the beautiful flowers

And checked out the green fountain

Took a ferry ride on the Savannah River

Walked down River St.

Had a picnic and watched the fountains at City Market

Had fun times at the house: Jude getting a trim from Uncle A

Bryce coaching Jude on how to play soccer

Mixing paint to make new colors (CeCe and Jude loved this!)

The boys playing with some of Bryce's new toys

And of course we had to go to the beach!  We picked a beautiful day and CeCe and Jude had a blast.  Poor Bryce was in school and Jasper wasn't feeling the sand that day.

St. Patricks Day parade

St. Patricks Day in Savannah is HUGE!  It is celebrated for the first two weeks of March, ending with the big parade downtown.  The weather was perfect on Saturday so we decided to give it a try.  It was crazy down there!  Mainly a big party (some estimates are that 1 million people were there!) with a decent parade that comes by (if you can get close enough to see it, which we couldn't) The bands were great, but the floats were pitiful in our opinion (we are used to Mardi Gras floats though).  It was lots of fun and I'm sure we will be going back next year.

I want to brag on Bryce for a minute....he is reading GREAT now!  We go to the library every week and he checks out early reader books.  He is allowed to stay up for about 10 minutes after we say goodnight and read to himself.  He is so proud of this because he has his own clip on lamp and watches the clock and does it all himself.  Big stuff!  He is also doing great at school and learning so much and enjoys going every day.  He is still LOVING Savannah.  I'm so thankful for this. I say it every year, but I can't believe he is six years old now!

Our beautiful azaleas

And two cute kids before church!

Aren't these flowers beautiful?  Savannah is just gorgeous right now with all the azaleas blooming.  This one is in our backyard right off the master bedroom.  We have a few in the front yard, but this is the biggest.  My parents helped me plant 5 more while they were here.  Lots of pictures from their week long visit to come.

Dino Mite 6th Birthday Party Part 2

(Part 1 is below this post) Next up at the party was the volcano!  When Bryce settled on a dinosaur theme I just knew we had to have an errupting volcano.  I found a video on you tube that showed how to make a reusable one.  We built it over several weekends but it was very easy to do.  The inside was a bottle of generic red soda and you drop mentos candy inside to make the soda errupt.  It was GREAT!!  We tried it last weekend but the soda I bought for the party must have been even fizzier because the 'lava' went up even higher!  Luckily I bought an extra bottle of soda because right after the first erruption all the kids were asking for another one!

Here is Bryce and his good friend Taylor.  These two have a special bond.  Taylor refers to Bryce as her boyfriend, but Bryce just says they are good friends.  His face lit up when she got to the party.

Cupcake time!

Jasper on the playset

They played with the silly exercise ball the whole time!

Opening presents

Trying out his new pogo stick from Aunt Sandra!

CeCe's new friend (and neighbor) Sophie came to the party

Jude fit right in with the 6 year old boys!

Thanks for coming Aunt Sandra!

After the party Bryce couldn't wait to show off his bike riding skills to Cappy, Papaw Ruff and Aunt Blake

Riding on his new scooter from us and Jude riding on Bryce's old scooter.
