Happy Birthday Bryce!!

Bryce is 2 today!! It is a yucky day outside here in Memphis. We went to the Children's Museum earlier and Bryce had a blast. He is napping now and when he gets up we are going to let him open some presents. I'll post some pictures later.

March 24th

We have a surgery date......Monday, March 24th. Don't know the time yet. They will call the Friday before to let us know what time to be there, what time we have to stop solid foods, and what time to stop clear liquids. Dr. Woolley got a good look at Bryce's lip today and said he would go in from the inside of the lip and remove as much hemangioma as he can (around 60% he thinks). The stitches will be on the inside of his lip so no scar on the outside! He is also going to do the first round of laser treatment at this time. Oh and he is also going to look at his airway again. No reason to but since he is in there he wants to see how everything looks and has healed up.

Dr. Woolley and his nurse Patty (who has been wonderful to us from day one) both commented on how cute Bryce is and how far he has come and they were both so proud of him! We had a nice trip. We left yesterday and spent the afternoon and night with our friends in Millbrook, Heather, Hugh and Evan. Bryce really enjoys Evan and especially all of his fun toys! Some old playgroup friends came over to visit with us and it was so nice! Thanks again Heather!!!

Pictures from the weekend

Those pictures were taken at the Pensacola Renaissance Fair on Saturday. It was very interesting!!! We enjoyed walking around and of course eating fair food! The other pictures were taken at the dog beach yesterday. Our weather was incredible this weekend and we took advantage of it. We spent about 2 hrs. at the dog park. Reagan loves swimming in the bay with the other dogs and Bryce can have fun just about anywhere!

Bryce and I are headed to Millbrook today to stay with some friends overnight and then we will make our way to Dr. Woolley's office in Birmingham Tues. morning. The weather is supposed to be really bad so keep us in your thoughts as we are traveling.

Change of Plans!

Dr. Woolley called yesterday while Bryce was napping. Not a phone call I expected that is for sure! He said he sent Bryce's pictures around to some leading hemangioma surgeons and they all said they would do the surgery now rather than waiting a year or two. Wow! They all felt like since there was such little change in the past year, that it wouldn't change much more in the next 2. We will go for a consultation sometime soon and ask all of our many questions then, but we talked about the basics yesterday.

He will start with debulking the bottom lip from the outside, not the inside. The majority of the hemangioma is on the outside of the lip so this only makes sense. He will have a small scar, but what is one more??? He will have disolvable stitches. He will have to be intubated for the surgery and with his smaller than normal airway there is always the chance of swelling so we will probably spend one night in the hospital. If this surgery doesn't debulk the lip enough he will do another surgery this time coming from the inside of his lip. After this we will start the laser treatments for the redness around his lip. This whole process will likely take at least two years from start to finish. We will have to be extra careful to keep sunscreen on him, but of course we need to do that anyway. I will update when I know when our appt. is. Please pray that we are making the right decision to do this now and with Dr. Woolley. I am attaching a close up of Bryce's lip and some other cute pictures from the last 2 weeks.
