Well.....that was SCARY

This afternoon Bryce had his first full blown, can't breathe, super scary asthma attack. He woke up from his nap and came out coughing and asked us for a breathing treatment (first time he's done that). He was crying a little so I quickly got the inhaler and put the mask to his face. He knows how to do them (we've been doing them alot this week but for nothing near this scary) and always does a great job. I noticed he wasn't breathing in deep like he normally does so I reminded him to breathe deep. He said "I can't". I thought yeah right, and then quickly noticed that he really couldn't. He then started coughing and gagging so I took him to the bathroom. Here is where my hero Anthony took over. I broke down because I realized he couldn't breathe. I don't think Anthony realized it yet though and kept telling him to relax and take deep breaths. I said through my tears, "Anthony he can't breathe, what do we do?" Bryce was coughing so obviously some air was getting in and out but he was getting frantic. Finally he threw up a little mucous and I think that helped. We did another breathing treatment and he was able to take short breaths to get the medicine in him. After another couple of minutes and a few rounds of "You are my Sunshine" sung by Daddy, he was much better. I'm scared now. Asthma was just annoying before but now it is scary.

Oh my! I am so happy that you all were able to get him calmed down and able to breath better. That is so scary and I can't imagine how you felt during it and afterwards. I am so sorry you are going through this and hopefully that will not happen again. Thinking of you all!
