The A Word

Bryce learned a new word today..............Asthma.

Yep, Bryce now has asthma. It explains a whole lot. He has been SO SICK all winter. Every little cold would turn into the nastiest, hacking, never ending cough. It was so bad this time with CeCe and Bryce both being sick and Bryce coughing to the point of gagging and throwing up that I called my mom in tears and she drove down here the next day. Thank goodness she did because she knows much more about asthma than I do (my sister had it very bad as a child). She said his cough sounded like Blakeley's did when she had asthma, but I didn't believe her, I guess I was in denial. He has had excema and allergies for years and apparently the three usually come together. He had an albuterol nebulizer treatment in the Dr. office and immediately his cough was much better (still there, just looser and more open sounding). She gave us a Rx for an albuterol inhaler and he will take oral steroids for 5 days. If we have to go back in to see her again for this same problem (and we will soon I'm sure), she will give us a Rx for a daily inhaled steroid. Poor thing has been so sick and I hope knowing this will allow us to treat his symptoms better and quicker.

CeCe is still coughing but Dr. Page listened to her and declared her 'just super snotty'.
