Baby Update

I went for my monthly OBGYN checkup yesterday. Everything looks great with the baby! I got to hear the heartbeat (144). That is one of the best sounds in the world! We scheduled our big ultrasound for Feb. 24th. I'm excited but nervous to see everything and make sure he/she is healthy.

We are not going to find out the gender this time! I'm very excited about that. I can't wait to find out in the delivery room! My Dr. was excited to hear our decision about that, he said it is way more exciting on D-day.

When I was pregnant with Bryce, we called him Baby D until we could found out that he was Bryce at our 20 week ultrasound. This time we need something to call the baby the whole time! I hate saying 'the baby' over and over. I asked Bryce what we should call the baby and he said "how about Crunchy?" I have no idea where that came from and I doubt that will stick but today at least the baby is Crunchy.

Sweet story about Bryce....yesterday after school I told him I had a good Dr. visit (he is always concerned when I tell him I'm going to the Dr., he thinks something is wrong). I told him the baby is growing and is doing well in Mama's tummy. He asked if it was his baby too, then if it was Daddy's baby. I told him it would be his baby brother or baby sister and he said "maybe a sister. Then I would have two sisters." and was sweetly patting Reagan (our dog) on the head! I melted!! But now I wonder....does he think the baby will come out and be a big black dog? :) You never know with Bryce!

I loved not knowing! I also love that Bryce wants to call Baby Duke Crunchy! That's so funny. I called Maddie Gray Bumble Bee, and now that's what I call her still. She seems to know when I'm talking to her, and I call her that. Her whole face lights up and she gives me that no toothed grin. It does make D-Day so much sweeter when you don't know. There's just something said for true surprises, because those are so few and precious.

Hi Brooke!
Dave and I did not find out with either of our kids and I would have been crushed if I had found out! It is amazing when the doctor said, "Ok dad, it is your call" and held them up. I wish more people did not find out. When people find out and name the baby, I think it takes away so much of the excitement and surprise. Best wishes for happy and healthy remainder of weeks for you. Bryce sounds adorable as ever. Hope all is well! Kendra
