I've been wondering if/when this would ever happen. After driving up to Birmingham yesterday (and my parents drove down from Memphis) getting hotel rooms, waking up at 5:00am, not allowing Bryce to eat or drink, getting to the hospital at 5:45, getting vitals done, playing and waiting, they called us back to this conference room and told us.......Dr. Woolley is stranded in New York and all of his surgeries scheduled for today have been cancelled. WHAT???
I had been having second thoughts about doing this surgery. His lip looks great to me, only a little redness around his mouth. I didn't really think we needed to put him under GA again and have him zapped just yet. But we had already made the appointment and things were under way so we kept the appt. I think this was God's way of telling us that it isn't the right time. We are going to put it off until the Fall at the earliest so we can enjoy our Summer in FL the way it is meant to be enjoyed! We might wait another year and see what the hemangioma does on it's own. They are 'supposed' to involute on their own.
Surprisingly I handled all of this exactly the way I would have hoped I would. Not the way I expected I would though. We were out some money and time, but in the scheme of things it is not a big deal. I couldn't help but wonder what we would have done had this happened 2 years ago when we couldn't wait to hand Bryce off to the surgeon because his breathing was so bad. I know I would have broken down and probably screamed a little and cried a lot. But thankfully we are in a different place now and our surgery wasn't because of a life threatening situation. There were over 20 cases cancelled today so I'm praying none of them were for major things.
I'll keep everyone updated on if/when we schedule the next surgery. We are in Memphis now with Cappy and Papaw Ruff for the week and will be with Kiki and Papaw Duke this weekend.
