We just got back from a quick last minute trip to Olive Branch. We went up there to see Elmo!!! Sesame Street Live was showing at the DeSoto Civic Center (near where my parents live). Bryce had a BLAST! We were wondering if we wasted money on the tickets, but he sat completely still (moving only to clap and point and shake, which he does when he is extra excited about something) for 35 whole minutes. Those that know Bryce personally know this is HUGE! He is non-stop movement unless he is sleeping or in his car seat so for him to sit that still for that long was great! I wish I had pictures of him so excited, but of course my camera was here in Millbrook.
I want to tell you a quick story about the ride home today. It has been a long time since I've been in the car by myself with Bryce for the trip to/from Olive Branch, maybe 4 months or so? It has worked out that either my mom or Anthony has been with us every time. He did great riding in the car today. He took a 6 minute nap around
Tupelo and was wide awake the rest of the time. We stopped about 30 minutes north of Birmingham in
Sumiton today to eat lunch. I ran through the drive
thru at McDonald's for Bryce some nuggets and fries and then went next door to Taco Bell for me. That was my first mistake. I knew that Taco Bell was going to be disgusting, it always is. And it was. I got Bryce out of his
carseat and his shorts were soaked. In 2.5 hrs. he had completely soaked through his diaper. His
carseat cover was wet too. Gross. I got his only clean pair of shorts out of the trunk and we went in to eat. Nasty place.. He kept standing up in the highchair, which is normal for him and then his face got really red and he was grunting. Yep. He dirtied the new diaper. Then he plopped down in the highchair which must have made things explode in there because by the time I got back out to the car to change his diaper again, it was on his shorts, leg, and got on the seat of my car. I ran through all the wipes I had cleaning this mess up (his new thing is to stick his hands 'down there' while I'm changing him, so that made it 10 times nastier!) Poor baby had to ride home in a wet
carseat with no shorts on!! He was fine with it though, happy go lucky Bryce. I was the one having a melt down! We made it home safely and he was thrilled to see his Daddy and Reagan.
Bryce is finally talking!!!
Yay! He says: go, car, ball, mama,
dada, yak (the animal), and no. I guess the
hemangioma taking over his vocal chords put him about 6-9 mos. behind on speech. Or maybe not, but that sounds like a good
explanation to me!
